Report: Meeting said to have taken place over massive potential Man City transfer

Though the recent 1-1 draw with Everton left a lot to be desired, the Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern were impressed by Pep Guardiola’s new-look side.

Having spent so much money over the course of the summer, our local Sky Blues are hugely expectant of a genuine title tilt this season. Well, if reports from the Sun are to be believed, they also expect a Champions League win.

They claim the club have spoken to Lionel Messi’s father over a potential move to the Etihad. Indeed, Jorge Messi is said to have met with former Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain of late in order to discuss it.

Perhaps the greatest player to ever play the game, the 30-year-old is thought to be stalling on a new contract at the Camp Nou, though the Blaugrana are believed to be confident he will extend.

Right now, however, he’d be able to discuss a move abroad on January 1st and the La Liga giants are in a state of relative disarray after losing Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain.

Though these kind of rumours should always be taken with a pinch of salt, the idea of landing Messi certainly has our Man City fans dreaming.
