Revealed: 53% of Man City fans against reported demand for key star

Manchester City fans here in the Tavern have been in deep discussion about the possibility of one of their men becoming the highest player in the Premier League.

City and Pep would struggle to replicate the current start that they’ve made to the season in all competitions. Living at the summit of both the Premier League and Champions League table without a single taste of defeat has got the Etihad in dreamland.

Over the past week reports have emerged linking the Belgian with a reward after his fine form so far this season that has many speaking of him to become the world’s best. What is at stake is a new £500k per week contract which would make the attacker the joint second highest paid player in world football alongside world star Lionel Messi which has sparked up many discussions in the pub.

The Landlord, therefore, decided to throw up a debate with the aim being to come to a conclusion in the form of gathering opinions as to whether De Bruyne is deserved of such luxury. When questioned on whether the in-form forward should be rewarded with a new highly paid contract 53% of City fans came to the conclusion that the Belgian isn’t worth that amount of money. Which has us thinking, are City fans not as hooked on this man as we think they are?

The results proved to be rather unexpected from all angles as his pure dominance and quality of performances for the side this season had us thinking that not many City fans would agree with the rise in pay for this man. Having been the best player for the Manchester side this season, you would have thought of all people he’d be the one deserving of the jackpot.

There is no problem with the outcome of this vote as the fans have proven that having more money pumped into now what is a business isn’t going to benefit players and sides in the long run. So now we wait on to hear back from the Belgian on a new contract, however, that is only of course if someone will ‘let him speak’.

So City fans, thoughts?
