Cassano’s future has been in doubt for a number of months after he reportedly requested to terminate his contract at current club, Sampdoria, following a fall out with the club’s president.
Although he has not joined the club officially, voices from Italy have suggested the deal is pretty much been completed. Milan chief Leandro Cantamessa has indicated his hopes that Cassano delivers following a history of fallouts and disciplinary problems at previous clubs.
“I have seen him play little, but this is a last chance for him and Milan is the maximum he could have wished for,” Cantamessa told Calciomercato.it.
“He has been lucky. I don’t believe he will want to let this occasion get away from him.
“He has the talent and so he will not fail this chance as it won’t happen again.”
This is the writing on the wall for former World Player of the Year, Ronaldinho. The forward’s contract expires in June 2011 and Milan are refusing to support his €7.5million per annum wage demands. A host of Brazilian clubs, plus MLS outfit LA Galaxy are said to be waiting for authorisation from Milan to talk to the Brazilian.
“It’s a club choice,” said Cantamessa.
“And the coach has made it clear what he thinks.”
Manchester City and Liverpool have both been linked to the 30-year-old former World Cup winner, but it has been largely seen as unlikely that Ronaldinho could justify his exceptional salary demands in the Premier League after a series of disappointing seasons.
Expect to see Ronaldinho pick up a large pay-cheque to pull in the crowds somewhere in the new year. Oh, and also expect Cassano to fall out with the playing staff at Milan and be kicked out the door by next season too.

Do you remember Ronaldinho’s ex-missus who had him up all night in the 2006 World Cup? I could hardly forget Alexandra Paressant, mainly because she looked like this!
