Many highs and lows have come and gone at Manchester City. Yet, whenever backed into a corner, Sergio Aguero’s always been there to save them from doom. With the defending champions in dire need of a win against Arsenal to keep up their title hopes, Aguero was there to light up the Etihad Stadium.
The Argentine scored his tenth hat-trick for City, piling the misery on Arsenal’s shaky defence. Despite scoring in the first minute for the second game running, he made sure that wasn’t his only one. Aguero later displayed terrific positional sense to latch onto Raheem Sterling’s pass and score past Bernard Leno to regain City’s lead before the half-time break.
His hattrick was completed in controversial fashion when it seemed the ball struck his hand before going in. Little did that matter, as the Argentine always seemed to be on the brink of adding another, as he has been since the moment he arrived at the club back in 2011.
Aguero now has fourteen goals in the Premier League, only two behind Mohamed Salah. He also boasts of the best minutes to goal ratio, scoring a goal every 104 minutes, cementing himself in the pantheon of Premier League greats. The most experienced attacker in the City side, Aguero needs to maintain his blistering run for the Citizens to keep the pressure piled on Liverpool.
He’s the guiding figures to the young attackers and can use his experience to keep them calm during this intense final stretch of the season. Knowing the Reds’ inability to handle the final surge of pressure, Aguero’s goals can help Pep Guardiola’s side come out on top in the title race.Like what the TT have on offer?
