The Sun has reported that Tottenham are considering a move for Welsh forward Craig Bellamy. The 30-year-old is known to be very unhappy about the way Mark Hughes was treated by the Manchester City hierarchy. The player only moved to Eastlands last January and City would want to recoup the £14million they spent on him.
Bellamy has been one of the standout performers this year, not only for Manchester City, but in the Premier League in general. Despite being played out of position on the left wing he has flourished in the absence of Robinho. Despite this fine form, Roberto Mancini may still let him go if he believes the Welshman could be a disruptive influence in the dressing room. Bellamy has a history of causing trouble and while Mark Hughes may have known how to handle him, Mancini will have his work cut out keeping the fiery striker happy.
Tottenham were interested in Bellamy last January too but he opted to join City instead. Now as Redknapp looks to reshuffle his front-line, he has popped up on the radar again. Redknapp has been told he will have to sell before he can buy and there is a strong possibility that Roman Pavlyuchenko will be the player that is offloaded to facilitate the signing of Bellamy.
City will not want to lose Bellamy if he can be appeased regarding the sacking of Mark Hughes, he has been great this season; but if his initial anger over the episode is not quelled, Tottenham may well swoop in.
