One old Manchester City fan propped up by the bar has been heard muttering the words “Sergio Aguero” and “don’t bleedin’ sell him” under his breath between sips of his pints for much of the past few weeks.
And his ramblings sum up the thoughts of many Citizens supporters, with the Argentine, despite his issues this season, a legendary figure in the sky blue half of Manchester.
Alas, his future has been unclear since Pep Guardiola’s arrival, and had it not been for Gabriel Jesus’ unfortunate injury – one that prompted a few punters to switch to neat gin – he may be warming the bench now, rather than being a fixture in his manager’s XI.
But, there’s bit of bad news from The Sun, who claim that Aguero has his eyes firmly set on a move away from the Etihad Stadium, with Real Madrid his preferred destination, which somewhat goes against the player’s own agent’s comments that his client is happy where he is now.
It’s understood that Man City won’t even entertain bids of below £60m for the one-time Atletico Madrid ace, and at the age of 28, that’s some fee.
Los Blancos themselves have Karim Benzema and Alvaro Morata as pretty fine No.9 options, but the report does claim that they want Aguero, which is understandable given that he’s netted 61 league goals in the last two-and-a-half seasons.
The landlord is pretty concerned about the aforementioned regular at the bar, and the situation could get worse of Aguero does indeed move on in summer 2017.
