The summer transfer window looks to be a big one for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City and you can see why following a sub par season in the blue half of Manchester.
The optimism around Pep arriving at the Etihad Stadium that was apparent this time last year has definitely vanished and failure next season will surely see the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager under the microscope from City’s owners.
One thing that hasn’t helped Guardiola in his first year at the Etihad is the age of his players, particularly in the full back department which has led to murmurs in the Telegraph around the Transfer Tavern that City may go in for Spurs’ English full back, Kyle Walker. Our landlord believes this would be a sensational coup for City especially due to the fact that Spurs must be considered title rivals for next season and Walker moving to City would not only enhance the Citizens but also dent Spurs’ squad.
The resident City fans in the Tavern agree that Walker would be a great move for their club but they also note that it should be a sign of intention to make further moves in the transfer market. The current debate in the Tavern has seen the resident Citizens discuss which other players they’d like to see join Walker at City.
