Our Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a busy summer window as Pep Guardiola looks to assemble a Premier League winning side.
The Citizens just have not been at the races this season as their early season form petered out to leave them off the pace set by the likes of Chelsea and Spurs.
There’s bound to be some big names coming in during the summer, then, and one man who City should be going for has to be Thiago from Bayern Munich.
The Spanish midfielder has really blossomed since his days at Barcelona and is now the main man when it comes to controlling the game for Bayern as Xabi Alonso is destined for retirement.
Guardiola, though, was the one that made him into this kind of player and it certainly wouldn’t be a bad idea for the pair to link up at the Etihad.
City need a ball playing midfielder with only Ilkay Gundogan good enough to play in this kind of role.
Gundogan, though, has serious fitness doubts to answer and it may make sense for Pep to get another pass-master in with Thiago potentially up for a new challenge.
Bayern waltzed to the title this season but failed to succeed in the Champions League once again and the Spaniard may fancy a new challenge with City certainly providing that.
Time, then, for Guardiola to call in a favour.
