‘Title race is back on!’ – Man City fans on Twitter react to injury update

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to news from Sky Sports that Sergio Aguero is currently recovering after undergoing keyhole surgery on his knee. The Argentine striker has been in and out of the team over the last month, although wasn’t part of the squad on Saturday evening as City beat Spurs at Wembley.

Manchester City’s all-time top scorer missed last month’s fixtures against Stoke and Everton in the Premier League with a knee injury before also missing the first leg of City’s Champions League clash with Liverpool. The striker then came off the bench against Manchester United last weekend for 15 minutes before managing 25 minutes off the bench just three days later against Liverpool in their second leg.

Given the inconsistent appearances Aguero has been making, it’s been clear to most that he’s not fully fit and it’s in the interest of all those associated with the Citizens to wait for their talisman to recover fully before risking him. Aguero has proven time and time again that he’s one of the Premier League’s, and the world’s, best strikers. Even this season when he appears to have played a smaller role as Pep Guardiola has juggled him with Gabriel Jesus, the 29-year-old has managed 21 Premier League goals in 25 appearances, averaging one goal for every 94 minutes of action he plays.
