Manchester City have proceeded to carry on their dominance in the Premier League this season but will undoubtedly face harder competition if they want to win the title for the second successive season.
Pep Guardiola is a footballing genius but when it came to the summer transfer window, only signing Riyad Mahrez could prove to be a costly mistake considering the harder competition from rivals this season.
Of course City the big spenders were linked with a host of names but none came through apart from the deal to sign Mahrez. One player in particular that was linked and would have been an outstanding signing is Jorginho, who opted for the blue of Chelsea instead this season.
The Italian midfielder, (who is valued at £45 million on Transfermarkt) has quickly become used to life in the Premier League under manager Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea. The move swayed from City to Chelsea largely because of the manager coming from Napoli to the Premier League, which in the end, Jorginho also did.
Brazilian born Jorginho enjoyed a great season in Italy last season, making 39 appearances in which he scored four and set-up four assists as well, good figures for a defensive-minded midfielder.
Not many times have City been beaten to a player by Chelsea in the last few years but it seems the Stamford Bridge side have really got one over on the Citizens with the capture of the 26-year-old.
Alongside N’golo Kante, the pairing are starting to make a formidable partnership already this season, something that gives a lot of hope to Chelsea but an ounce of regret to Manchester City.
Will City regret not signing Jorginho… Let us know!
