‘Too cocky sometimes’ – Man City fans react happily to fiery dressing room reports

Manchester City fans in the Tavern were pleased with a report in the Telegraph this week that Pep Guardiola “tore into” Leroy Sane for not pulling his weight in the clubs 1-0 loss to Wigan in the FA Cup. Sane was accused of failing to pull his weight in a brutal dressing room strip down before being subbed for Kyle Walker, much to the delight of our resident Sky Blues.

The versatile winger was one of Guardiola’s first signings in Manchester and he’s been in excellent form so far this season, scoring 11 goals and assisting 14 in his 36 appearances for the Citizens in a campaign where the German also won the Premier League Player of the Month award for October.

The 22-year-old has amassed nine caps for Germany and is guaranteed a place on the plane to Russia as part of the German World Cup squad. However, Guardiola’s attack on Sane’s performance comes as a timely reminder of the Spaniard’s expectation of his players. The loss at League One side Wigan was hugely embarrassing for City fans and eliminated talks of what would’ve been a historic quadruple by the men in sky blue.

The winger has since been back in the side after the Wigan defeat and played over 75 minutes as Manchester City defeated Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final last Sunday to help City lift the season’s first piece of silverware.

This is what the City fans thought.
