Toure waxes poetic over French move after Guardiola bust-up

According to French outlet RMC Sport, (via Sky Sports,) Manchester City’s Yaya Toure has been told by his brother Kolo to consider playing for Marseille in a bit to revive his faltering career.

It would come as a blow to our resident Citizens fans here in the Transfer Tavern should the midfielder leave, with him still being a firm fan favourite, despite his lack of playing time this season.

The Ivorian has not played for City thanks to a war of words between his agent and Pep Guardiola in recent months and his brother, now at Celtic, feels it might be best if he moved away from the club.

The defender said when asked whether his younger sibling should entertain a move to Ligue 1, much as he left the Premier League in order for more game time.

“Yes, why not? He still has talent and some things to prove. It’s certain that it’s difficult at City right now. We have all been through that”, said Kolo.

”You’re at the top at one moment, and then you go back down.

”You have to understand that you need a change of scenery, go to a place where people want you. I haven’t spoken about it with him. He’s still at City, I respect that. But OM [Olympique de Marseille]┬áis a super club and he knows the French league well.”

Toure played for Monaco earlier on in his career before moving to Barcelona and so a move back to the south of France could prove to be his career doing as near enough to a full circle as he could get.

Still, he’s likely to command a huge weekly wage, not readily available for Ligue 1 sides.
