The City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story in The Independent claiming that Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City won’t panic in the summer after their defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League. The club drew up transfer plans in January and are set to stick to them despite their set back in Europe this week to Liverpool.
City will not panic in the transfer window after their Champions League exit and will persevere with plans drawn up in January to sign a defensive midfielder and wide attacker who can also play in the middle. [@MiguelDelaney]

Pep Guardiola’s side were well beaten. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool won 3-0 at Anfield last week and 2-1 last night at The Etihad as Liverpool advanced to the last four of the Champions League. Manchester City have become famed this season for being near unbeatable, although they’ve now lost three games in just six days. Liverpool’s double over City and Manchester United’s 3-2 win on Saturday evening have provided Guardiola with one of his worst weeks in management.
The Citizens are still set to go on and secure a domestic double after winning the League Cup a couple months ago and sitting 13 points clear of second place Manchester United in the Premier League. Whilst the season is set to go down in history as a rip-roaring success for all of those associated with Manchester City, this has been a tough week to deal with for the fans. Guardiola will no doubt go on to be a huge success in Manchester and will most likely secure the Champions League in his tenure if he stays long enough, especially if continues to get the financial backing that City offer.

Can’t believe there are fans genuinely calling for Sterling, Otamendi and others to be axed. We want a higher quality squad, not replacements. Bring in either Fred or Weigl at DM and then either Dybala (unlikely) or Leon Bailey up front.
