The Daily Mail have some good news for Manchester City fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as they note that the club are close to netting Bruno Zuculini.
The Racing Club holding midfielder is thought to be one of the best prospects in South American football and looks to be on his way to the Etihad Stadium.
As one of our punters quips, after the dramatic recent events at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena, City will now face a ridiculously hard draw in the next stage of the Champions League, and need all the help they can get.
We in the tavern still cannot get over the fact that the club only needed one more goal – which manager Manuel Pellegrini did not realise – to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition as group winners.
This of course means it will be all uphill from now for the club, but 20-year-old Zuculini will at least provide a bright spot in this strange week.
The player will join the club in June and cost around £1.5 million – small change to the mega wealthy Manchester side!
City are also facing a fight to hold onto their skipper Vincent Kompany who is wanted by Monaco this winter and the Ligue 1 side are thought to be willing to test the resolve of City by making a £17 million bid.
Is this the kind of player City needed to add to their ranks? Let us know your thoughts below.
