Metro have some bad news for Manchester City fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern and Arsenal supporters are looking not too happy either.
Both clubs had been tracking Victor Valdes, who is of course out of contract in the summer and set on leaving Barcelona.
However, after a huge injury blow for the keeper, City have now decided to withdraw their interest in the Spanish international, who faces at least six months on the sidelines.
As some of our punters who watched the Barcelona game last night note over a beer, the minute Valdes went down clutching his knee it did not look good.
We initially fully expected the keeper to face some time out, but now his Barcelona career is as good as over and with the injury also leaving his World Cup hopes in tatters.
Joe Hart has still not convinced Citizens manager Manuel Pellegrini and the former Real Madrid manager is still keen to explore his options in the summer.
That of course will not go down well with Hart, but now Valdes has been ruled out as a potential target, our punters are wondering just who the Citizens will chase after next.
Arsenal meanwhile have also shown some interest in Valdes, who did dream of coming to the Premier League, but putting faith in a keeper who has suffered such a serious injury is something our landlord does not advise.
Manchester City fans. Who should the Citizens turn to now, if anyone at all? Let us know your thoughts below.
