Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern hope that what their Chairman is saying is true after the Daily Star revealed that the man at the top is confident that Yaya Toure wants to stay at the Etihad following crunch talks.
With the Ivorian’s future hanging in the balance, it was time Toure had a chat with chairman, Khaldoon Al-Mubarak, and it seems as though his future has been resolved.
In the Tavern there have been numerous discussions linking him with a move to Inter Milan, to join his former boss Roberto Mancini.
Rumours began to blossom after the powerful midfielder was made a scapegoat during City’s disappointing season.
Toure said: “I will definitely stay. The fans don’t have to be worried.
“My target this year is to try to do everything possible to make this team improve well and I am sure with my experience, maybe I hope, with the players coming in a couple of weeks, a couple of months, definitely it is going to be a strong City next year.”
The 32-year-old not only has promised to rediscover his form but he also wants to ensure fans that they will have be more successful in the Champions league.
He added: “It is one of my big targets (the Champions League) because City have been in the shadow of United for so long.
“Sometimes their fans are coming back, saying we are the top because we have already won the Champions League.
“What I want for the fans is the Champions League. I will do everything that’s possible.
“I am looking at next season and I will start working again, because last season there has been a lot of football for me.
“There were difficult moments as well emotionally and physically. Now is a good time to rest and next season you are going to see the top one.”
It is believed that City are determined to keep hold of Toure, meaning they could form a deadly midfield partnership of him and Paul Pogba, from Juventus.
