Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been raving about youngster Anthony Martial, who scored four goals in his first four appearances for the club, and his manager has also praised the forward.
Martial struck a delightful derby goal against Liverpool, before firing a brace against Southampton last weekend and netting in the midweek League Cup fixture. Whilst he didn’t score today, he impressed as the Red Devils moved top of the Premier League with a win over Sunderland.
Van Gaal was questioned for spending so much on a teenager but those worries have subsided since and the Dutchman as now compared Martial to the young Patrick Kluivert he managed at Ajax, per the Daily Mail.
‘Of course you can compare Martial with Kluivert, you can do that, because Kluivert was also a fantastic, athletic figure and scored goals right from the beginning.’
Kluivert and Martial have walked different paths, with the United’s newest start starting his career at Monaco whilst Kluivert went on to star for Barcelona after his own big-money move.
Comparisons between the duo are clear to see and these seem a bit more understandable to those that compare the youngster with Thierry Henry, who is a different calibre to many we’ve ever seen.
United fans, how good can Martial be? Let us know in the comments!
