Metro have caused interested glances here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it seems Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez has turned down a move away from the club.
The Mexican forward had been linked with a departure this summer, yet seems keen to fight for his place under David Moyes and show the new manager exactly what he can do as the new season starts.
Given the situation surrounding Wayne Rooney, it seems that Hernandez could well be in with a much better shout of landing a place in the starting line up than last season, yet still has to contend with Danny Welbeck and also star man Robin van Persie for that elusive place in the first choice striking duo.
The 25-year-old’s agent noted that there had been interest, yet Hernandez saw his future at Old Trafford.
His agent claimed: “Of course he wants to play more, to have more minutes, to participate more, but he wants to do it at United, he wants to defend the title and go far in the Champions League.”
“The interest from Valencia was real. He had the chance to speak with the sporting director [Braulio Vazquez] but Javier, I reiterate, wants to stay at Manchester United, this is the challenge.
“He was very grateful to Valencia and the other clubs who called him.”
As one of our punters quips, Moyes will be mightily impressed at the forward’s stance, especially given the strife Rooney has caused him all summer with his attempts to leave.
Will Hernandez go on to enjoy a fruitful 2013/14? Are you happy he has committed to the Red Devils? Let us know your thoughts below.
