Manchester United fans are scratching their heads at the latest claim from the Daily Mirror who claim that their on loan striker Angelo Henriquez has asked not to return to the club in the summer.
On closer inspection it seems that the player does not want to leave Manchester United permanently, he just wishes to get some playing time and win his place in the Chilean national team back. The forward is currently on loan at Wigan Athletic, yet has seen his place in the pecking order fall in recent weeks and cannot get a starting birth for the team whose season only really begins in March.
After being dropped from the Chilean national fold, Henriquez knows that to get his place back, especially in the face of such tough competition, he needs to be playing week in, week out and does not feel that will happen at Old Trafford anytime soon.
Given that it is not happening at the DW Stadium either it seems unlikely he will ask to remain there and the option of going to Spain for a season is the one the 18-year-old reportedly favours. So keen is he to play, a drop down to the Championship in order to gain a first team place is also something he is willing to consider.
Will the teenager ever make it at Old Trafford or is he the next Dong, Manucho or Bebe? Let us know your thoughts below.
