Manchester United ace set for switch to Premier League club imminently?

Jonny Evans West Bromwich Albion fans are gathered in the Football Transfer Tavern, with our landlord bringing us the latest on the club’s search for a new centre-back.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Baggies are set to move for Manchester United outcast Jonny Evans this week, with the Northern Irishman no longer in the plans of Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old didn’t even make the bench for the goalless draw with Newcastle on Saturday, and Tony Pulis is hoping an offer of £8million will be enough to secure the deal.

Albion had previously been targeting Tottenham’s Argentine defender Federico Fazio, with the asking price for Evans understood to be £12million.

However, the Baggies are confident of landing him for much cheaper now he appears to be out of favour at Old Trafford, with the club preparing an offer of £5 million with add-ons.

Our resident West Brom fans here in the Transfer Tavern feel that signing Evans would be excellent for the club, and would without doubt bolster the club’s backline!

Meanwhile, a host of United fans aren’t too bothered about this news and they all feel that Evans is not a first-team starter at Old Trafford, and it would be beneficial for both parties!
