Earlier this month Monaco’s vice-president Vadim Vasilyev claimed an unnamed side bid more than Manchester United for Anthony Martial– but the teenager rejected those advances in order to sign for the Red Devils.
Now, adding to those comments, French magazine CanalPlus claimed that the unnamed club was in fact none other than United’s Premier League rivals Chelsea, who proposed a deal worth more than the staggering amount Louis Van Gaal’s side offered.
19-year-old Martial has become an instant success at Old Trafford, scoring four goals in his first seven appearances, as he works hard to prove himself worthy of an astonishing price-tag; which could rise as high as £58m.
Whilst it’s claimed Chelsea’s offer was superior, no figures are given to provide further details on the Blues approach- but our punters are wondering whether Martial would have helped to fend off Chelsea’s atrocious start to the Premier League campaign.
Chelsea fans, would Martial have changed your fortunes this season? Let us know in the comments below!
