Manchester United aiming to hijack Arsenal’s transfer efforts

4290565 (1)Arsenal fans are not looking very impressed here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as the Daily Star have claimed that one of their top targets could well be snatched out from under them.

The club have long been tracking Schalke’s Julian Draxler and we thought that they were set to land him in January.

Given Arsene Wenger refused to pay the asking price for the German international, the Gunners missed out on the player, instead making the sole signing of the crocked Kim Kallstrom on deadline day

Now it seems that Manchester United are willing to pay the £37 million for Draxler and may well steal the Bundesliga star out from under their noses.

Our punters make the point over a beer that Manchester United are hardly one of the best sides around at the minute and for a young player like Draxler who is looking for the next big move in his career, making the switch to United may well not be as attractive an option as it once seemed.

Over the pool table, our regulars note that Arsenal are unlikely to pay the money Schalke are asking for Draxler but the player himself may well snub the chance to play Europa League football with Manchester United.
