Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are gutted after the landlord showed them an article from the Daily Star, which claims that Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is set to extend his stay at the club.
Simeone is one of the most sought after managers in Europe, after guiding the Spanish club to the title last season and to a Champions League final.
The publication suggests that Simeone’s sister has dismissed claims that he is set for a move to the Premier League, saying to Teledeporte: “Im really emotional.
“There is so much adrenaline with Atleti and you live every match with so much emotion.
“There is really good news coming in the next few days. The fans will be very happy.
“We are going to continue to work together.”
As the landlord quips, the 44-year-old has done a fantastic job at the La Liga club, and it is no surprise to see interest in the Argentinian from a host of clubs in Europe.
A group of Manchester City fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern over by the pool table are especially annoyed, with many of them arguing that Manuel Pellegrini must leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season.
