Manchester United and Arsenal in chase for Brazilian keeper

Interesting news is emerging in the Football Transfer Tavern this afternoon that Arsenal and Manchester United are both monitoring QPR’s Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar with an eye to a possible summer swoop.

The Sun’s Shaun Custis suggests that the two Premier League rivals are closely watching the shot stopper as he performs admirably for Harry Redknapp’s QPR and both are known to be looking for a more experienced number one which Cesar would certainly offer.

The Red Devils current first choice David De Gea looks set to be replaced and may even head back to Spain with Barcelona while the Gunners are slowly losing faith in Polish keeper Wojciech Szczesny after some inconsistent displays.

The Brazilian international spent seven memorable years at the San Siro with Inter Milan, winning five Serie A titles and famously the Champions League under Jose Mourinho in 2010.

He left the Italian giants during the summer as they looked to cut their wage bill and surprisingly joined QPR after they matched his huge wage demands.

However the 33-year-old has been that good for the struggling Premier League side that Custis reports that both Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger want him to join their club.
