Manchester United and Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been caught hot on their heels after the Daily Mirror explained the complications between Eduardo Salvio and his current club Benfica.
The 24-year-old winger is currently signed on with the Portuguese giants until 2017.
But his stay may be cut short, because due to the high interest surrounding the Argentine’s availability, Benfica are keen to get him to sign a new deal to secure his future.
But there has been a disagreement between Salvio’s representatives and Benfica as a one-year contract extension hangs in the balance.
Salvio’s representatives are fighting for the club to lower his £43m price tag and if Benfica agree to knock down this clause, then Salvio will sign a new deal.
A plethora of United and Liverpool fans over by the bar in the Transfer Tavern feel that £43 million would be an extortionate sum to stump up for the winger, and feel it would need to be a reduced fee for the deal to be beneficial.
