Manchester United swept aside a poor Chelsea side on their way to three points with one player’s performance arguably escaping attention.
Marcus Rashford put in a brilliant display as he scored a brace for just the third time in his young Premier League career, with the previous two also coming against ‘big six’ opposition.
Meanwhile, debutants Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka both lived up to the hype surrounding their big-money moves.
Maguire made the most interceptions and made the most clearances of any player in the game. Meanwhile, Wan-Bissaka continued where he left off with Crystal Palace winning the most tackles for his side (via WhoScored).
However, Anthony Martial seemed to escape the attention of everyone. The France international was a key attacking player for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, having the joint-most shots and dribbles versus Frank Lampard’s side.
There also seems to be a determination to stop opposition attacks developing further from Martial. The 23-year-old made the second-most fouls of any of the Old Trafford giants’ side (3), showing he has the nous when defending from the front.
The Express talked about Solskjaer’s comments of the Frenchman pre-match and gave him a seven out of 10.
They said: “Solskjaer spoke before the match and claimed United fans would see about the ‘new Martial’. With his old number back, glimpses of his best form were seen.” (Source: The Express)
Martial has the talent to make the difference for the north-west club, and last weekend’s performance shows he could start to fire on all cylinders this season, which could also bring about some success.
Indeed, if his most recent performance is anything to go by then Man United fans could be in for a treat.
