They’ve just received the news that Jackson Martinez fancies a move to Italy rather than the Premier League this summer.
The Colombian international has been on the shopping list of many of Europe’s biggest clubs but according to The Express, he has expressed an interest in joining Rafael Benitez’s Napoli side.
Reports had suggested that a move to Roma was not enticing enough for the attacker but the lure of teaming up with fellow Colombian Juan Camilo Zuniga at the Stadio San Paolo is swaying his attentions away from Manchester and more towards southern Italy.
Martinez is also said to be keen to link up with Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain and feels that he can build a reputable partnership with the former Real Madrid man.
Premier League duo Chelsea and Arsenal were also linked with his signature but it now looks like they could miss out on one of Europe’s hottest properties.
Reports in Portugal suggest that Porto are reluctant to sell their star man and are unwilling to lower their asking price – meaning that his £27 million buy-out clause will need to be triggered if he is to leave the Estadio Dragao.
Fans of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. Should your chairman trigger Martinez’s transfer buy-out clause and try and force the Portuguese sides’ hand? Let us know your thoughts below.
