It has been the leading story of deadline day it’s now been confirmed by BBC Sport that Manchester United have completed the quite remarkable £6 million loan signing of Monaco’s Radamel Falcao.
Manchester United were desperate to land the Colombian forward despite many Red Devils fans questioning whether they actually really needed him deep down.
Many punters in the tavern had expected Louis van Gaal to swoop for defensive reinforcements on deadline day given the uncertrainty hanging over Marcos Rojo’s arrival.
However, the Dutch tactician stunned everyone by following up the club record signing of Angel Di Maria with Falcao, not to mention a fellow deadline day swoop for Ajax’s Daley Blind.
Falcao’s Old Trafford arrival saw Danny Welbeck depart for Arsenal in order to free up space in the squad after also seeing Javier Hernandez leave on loan for Real Madrid.
Louis van Gaal has decided that a loan deal with the option to buy Falcao is the best idea and as some of our regulars notes, given the injury concerns over Robin van Persie, we think it is a good idea to bring in a world class player up top.
The money that has been mooted for Falcao is, as our landlord notes, out of this world and we are still not sure if anyone is worth £340,000 in wages per week.
This is not to mention the loan fee itself which will obviously go to Monaco but goals win games and Falcao could well fire United into the top four once again.
Manchester United fans. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the happiest, how pleased are you to have secured the signing of a truly world class forward in the form of Falcao? Let us know your thoughts below.
