Manchester United boss identifies perfect wing back solution

Daley BlindManchester United in the Football Transfer Tavern are expecting a busy time in the transfer market between now and the end of the window on September 1st.

The Daily Mail reckons Louis van Gaal has set his sights on a player he knows very well.

van Gaal is set to try and land Dutch World Cup star Daley Blind with the 24-year-old looking set to leave Ajax, having trained alone since returning from international duty in Brazil.

Ajax youth coach Richard Witschge said: “I think Daley Blind will be leaving soon. I have a feeling.

“He has been training by himself. I think he has done that because there’s something going on.”

van Gaal has implemented his preferred international 3-5-2 system at United during pre-season and sees Blind as the man to play that left wing back role as he did for the Netherlands in Brazil.

United have already spent big money on their left hand side this summer, signing Luke Shaw from Southampton for a fee of £32 million.

But van Gaal is eager to bring in Blind, a player who can also play as a holding midfielder.

The United boss is looking to strengthen his defence and midfield ahead of the Premier League kick off and has also been linked with a move for Roma defender Mehdi Benatia.
