Manchester United boss seeks advice in transfer pursuit

Daniele De Rossi

Manchester United manager David Moyes has shocked the Football Transfer Tavern by seeking advice from other managers before making bids for players, according to The Guardian.

Moyes has held council with former England manager Fabio Capello over the abilities of Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi who was managed by Capello during his time in Italian football.

United had a £12 million bid rejected for the Italian international who has claimed he wants to stay at Roma and see out his career there.

Moyes is struggling to add new players to his newly inherited squad and especially in the central midfield area where United are weak with only Michael Carrick seen as a world class central player in a side that is aiming for numerous trophies this season.

The former Everton boss has already failed with bids for Thiago Alcantara, Cesc Fabregas and Marouane Fellaini along with De Rossi and has only two days to get the right man into his side and appease the supporters’ fears that the club are struggling without Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm.

“I don’t think there’s anything else to add.” Moyes said.

“I wouldn’t disclose any names, just let the clubs deal with it and we’ll try and do it in a professional manner.

“I don’t know how busy it’s going to be but it’s a busy football market.

“It might be busy in the next few days and I hope we do a little bit of business but I couldn’t guarantee that.”
