The Daily Mirror claim that David Moyes is willing to sell one of his brightest young stars this summer and we are not convinced it is a good idea here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The Manchester United manager is willing to sell Nick Powell this summer in order to raise funds to bring in the players he feels could take the club forward.
Powell has been on loan at Wigan Athletic this season and has done rather well for the Latics, becoming their top scorer, and as our landlord notes, there will be a fair few clubs who are willing to take the player off Moyes’ hands!
Swansea City are currently leading the race for the former Crewe Alexandra player, who would cost them around £5 million, and our Manchester United fans in the tavern are not very happy at the thought of the young player leaving.
Powell has impressed on loan, and despite having a couple of months out injured, has been the young star of the Championship. The versatility of Powell is something Swansea are keen on implementing in their squad, with the youngster able to play in the middle of the park or up top.
One of our regulars quips that given what United now have in their midfield, Powell couldn’t be much worse!
Do you think Powell deserves a first chance at Old Trafford next season? Let us know your thoughts below.
