Manchester United can land transfer target…for £79m fee

Kevin Strootman Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern may have to give up any hope of signing Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman.

That is because according to talkSPORT, Roma coach Rudi Garcia has told Louis van Gaal that only a fee of £79 million could see them land the Dutch midfielder.

On Friday new Red Devils boss van Gaal said he is still monitoring Strootman’s progress as he recovers from a serious knee injury.

But Garcia has insisted that Strootman is not for sale and to make his point clear, he revealed that a huge fee would be required for the Italian club to even consider letting the Dutch midfielder go.

“What can I say about the rumours,” said Garcia.

“Maybe after a three-digit offer, then we will sit down and think about it.”

van Gaal knows Strootman all too well from his time as Holland manager but it seems that the former Netherlands coach may miss out on his target.

He was also rumoured to be interested in Juventus duo Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba but it looks as though van Gaal may have drawn a blank with all three.
