Manchester United chasing old boy to solve defensive crisis

PiqueManchester United fans have been drinking in the Football Transfer Tavern until the last orders bell as they hear that their former defender could be set for an astonishing return.

According to The Express, Gerard Pique is being lined up for a sensational move back to Old Trafford in January, giving the United supporters something to shout about.

The 27-year-old didn’t make much of an impact at Old Trafford, making only 12 Premier League appearances but fans by the bar would jump at the opportunity to have him back at the club.

The Spaniard is relaxed with the ball at his feet and is comfortable in possession, meaning he should fit seamlessly into Louis van Gaal’s notorious 3-5-2 formation.

The reason why he has been linked with a move back to Premier League is because he has struggled to impress his new Barca boss Luis Enrique.

Although despite his lack of game time, Enrique could still be keen on using Pique in the latter stages of the campaign; after all he is contracted to the club until 2019.

Pique initially moved from Barcelona to Manchester United in 2004 after being a youth player but returned back to the Spanish giants, four years later, for a steal of only £5 million.

Pique has since gone on to have an illustrious career at the Camp Nou, winning La Liga four times and the Champions League twice.
