Some latest speculation has just reached us in The Football Transfer Tavern as The Mirror bring news of a possible transfer blow for Manchester United and Chelsea.
Inter Milan’s midfield star Fredy Guarin is considering a new contract with the Serie A club which could end talk of him departing the club in the near future.
The Colombian was reportedly being considered by the Premier League duo in the recent January transfer market with the Blues thought to be leading the race.
Jose Mourinho had looked at Guarin before sealing a deal to bring Nemanja Matic to Stamford Bridge from Benfica with a £13 milion deal turned down by the Italian club.
While Guarin was also close to leaving the San Siro in January as part of a swap deal with Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic but the proposed collapsed at the last minute and instead he remained at the San Siro.
However, Italian reports now suggest that his long-term future could be at Inter with a one-year contract extension, which would keep him at the club until 2017, being offered by Indonesian owner Erick Thohir as the new owner seeks to keep his talented players at the San Siro.
Do you think this will be the end of the interest in the Inter Milan star? Let us know your thoughts below.
