They are out of the Champions League but here in the Football Transfer Tavern, Manchester United fans are being cheered up by the Daily Star.
The publication have claimed that Red Devils executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, is staying over in Bavaria in order to try and push a move for Bayern Munich Toni Kroos closer.
As one of our punters points out, we hope Woodward’s talks last longer than the comeback his side attempted against the Bundesliga giants, with Bayern comfortably dispatching Manchester United to book their place in the last four of the competition.
Kroos, for his part, has made it clear he feels his future lies away from the Allianz Arena and is open to a move to England and Old Trafford especially – quite why at the minute, we do not know.
According to our landlord, Woodward must shoulder some of the blame for this season, as despite David Moyes being inept in the dug out, Woodward has let the club down when it comes to the transfer dealings – and we are hard pressed to disagree.
United need to move quickly for players, and perhaps Kroos’ maths skills are as bad as Manuel Pellegrini’s and United can convince him fourth place and Champions League football is still attainable. That or tell him he will earn as much as Wayne Rooney!
Can Woodward push a deal for Kroos through or will he make a hash of it again? Let us know your thoughts below.
