Metro could actually have some good news for Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The publication have pleased our regulars by claiming the Red Devils are looking to tie up a deal for Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan forward has been linked with both free falling Manchester United and also Chelsea this season, and now it seems that David Moyes and his men are looking to secure a deal for the former Palermo and Napoli player.
Chelsea are keen on the PSG star as well, and both David Moyes and Jose Mourinho have been made aware of how unhappy the forward is playing second fiddle to the evergreen Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the Parc Des Princes.
Despite this, the 28-year-old has managed to net 18 goals and has lost none of his skill in front of goal, meaning that the price tag on his head could well be around £80 million – a huge figure for any player.
One of our punters notes that Chelsea have no problem finding that money, and United may well struggle, especially given they will be missing out on revenue for the Champions League places.
The solution could of course be to sell the likes of Robin van Persie, but that is assuming that Cavani would be willing to go to a club playing in the Europa League, of course being managed by David Moyes.
