Metro have a cracker of a story for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they note that Manchester United have made a second improved bid for Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas.
The champions of England have already seen an initial bid for the Barcelona midfielder rejected, yet have been handed fresh hope regarding landing the player due to the current uncertainty at the Camp Nou over the next manager.
Now David Moyes is ready to go back in with an improved bid in the hopes of landing the Spanish international and spoke out about the issue ahead of the final leg of the club’s Asia tour.
Moyes claimed: “Ed (Woodward) has had a response (from Barcelona). He has spoken to them. There has been a second offer (for Fabregas) but Ed is dealing with that.”
Barcelona of course are insisting that the player is not for sale under any circumstances, and Cesc himself seems to be following that party line.
After seeing Thiago Alcantara depart for Bayern Munich, Fabregas now has renewed hope that he can push ahead in the pecking order at the club and finally oust Andres Iniesta and Xavi from those midfield starting places.
United of course are confident they can land Fabregas and can offer not only the chance to win titles but also the presence of Champions League football to boot meaning that Fabregas wouldn’t be making a backwards move in his career.
How will Manchester United fare with their second transfer bid for Fabregas? Let us know your thoughts below.
