The Daily Star claim that Manchester United could well be set to make a bid for Joleon Lescott – who of course currently wears the colours of bitter rivals Manchester City.
The England defender is certainly leaving the Etihad Stadium in the summer and has been linked with a big money move to Turkey, not to mention a move to a couple of mid-table Premier League sides – although according to some of our punters, that is exactly what Manchester United are at the minute!
The club and David Moyes are considering snapping Lescott up and will offer a fairly decent wage package to the player.
Whilst it would not be as lucrative as making a move abroad, it would make sure that the defender could stay in Manchester and also make sure that he would be able to play in the top flight of English football next season.
The move is not exactly popular with fans here in the tavern, especially the red half of the Manchester bunch, who seem to think that a world class defender is what is needed, and not a reject from their wealthy neighbours!
Are United really interested in adding Lescott to their depleted ranks? Let us know your thoughts below.
