Adam Crafton from Mail Online has caught the attention of punters in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening.
He claims that Manchester United are set to step up their interest in Sporting Libson youngster William Carvalho after their scouts watched him for the eighth occasion this season.
He explains that representatives from Old Trafford were once again present during a recent Sporting Lisbon match, this a goalless draw with Academica on Sunday evening, and again the young midfielder stood out.
The 21-year-old has already made his breakthrough with Paulo Bento’s Lisbon squad and he could be a surprise selection for the upcoming World Cup, clearly demonstrating his quality.
While his contract doesn’t expire until 2018 which contains a £37.5 million release clause, United are supposedly hopeful of negotiating a far cheaper deal for the impressive combative midfielder.
Moyes is certainly looking for more beef in the centre of the park at Old Trafford and Carvalho may yet emerge as a potential summer target for the Red Devils.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are also thought to be keeping tabs on his progress at Sporting.
