Manchester United considering swoop for highly-rated La Liga defender

gayaA few raised voices of excitement were head in the Transfer Tavern today, as Manchester United have been linked to the defensive talents of a young Spaniard tipped for an exceptional career.

TalkSport claim Luke Shaw’s broken leg, suffered in the Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven, has led Louis Van Gaal to target a full-back in January; as the England international could be out for six months.

According to the reports, that man is 20-year-old Valencia starlet Jose Luis Gaya; who is heralded as a future star for the Spanish national team, after breaking into Valencia’s first-team squad at such a young age.

Whilst Gaya would be an excellent replacement for Luke Shaw, there’s a big problem in the long-run as both talented full-backs need maximum game-time to fulfil their bright potential- which would not be possible if both players were to occupy the same squad.

With United having spent a sensational amount of money for Shaw last summer, it’s likely any fix presented by Van Gaal would be more of a short-term option rather than another impressive youngster to compete.

Manchester United fans, is Jose Luis Gaya better than Luke Shaw? Let us know below!
