Manchester United enter the race for Barcelona and Arsenal target

The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are taunting the Arsenal fans after recording a 3-1 victory over the Gunners yesterday at The Emirates Stadium.

And now Manchester United could also pip Arsenal to the signing of a top target.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, Manchester United are now interested in pursuing a move for Leon Goretzka.

Leon Goretzka is hot property as he is expected to leave Schalke in January.

Arsenal are one of a number of clubs to have expressed an interest in signing the Germany international but they face competition from La Liga giants Barcelona, Serie A champions Juventus and Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich.

Now Manchester United have also entered the race with Jose Mourinho eyeing the 22-year-old as a perfect long term replacement for veteran midfielder Michael Carrick.

Schalke are desperate to keep their prize asset but the youngster has his heart set on a move away from the Bundesliga outfit with plenty of potential suitors lining up to take him.

His contract is due to expire at the end of the season, making him available for a possible cut-price fee this January.

Man United could make a swoop this January as Mourinho looks to bolster his side’s title credentials.
