Manchester United rumours are never sparse in the Football Transfer Tavern and today is no exception with talkSPORT reporting that Sir Alex Ferguson is preparing a summer bid for Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera.
A long-term target for the Old Trafford side, Herrera was previously linked with a move to the club during the summer but nothing materialised. The Mexican international was a key player behind their victorious London 2012 Olympic Games football team that beat favourites Brazil in the final at Wembley.
However it now appears that signing the 22-year-old is back on the agenda after his club Pachuca confirmed that they expect him to leave at the end of the season with a £9 million price tag being placed on his head.
The Mexican club reaffirmed their desire to keep the midfielder but confirmed that there was interest across Europe.
Pachuca president Jesus Martinez told talkSPORT: “There is nothing concrete on the table but there are some attractive offers,
“It’s not just Porto either, there is also an English and a French club who are interested. We only want him to leave in June if it is a good deal.”
