The Daily Star have Manchester United fans on the edge of their bar stools here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that David Moyes could well be set to swoop for a Barcelona player.
Alex Song, who we all know well from his time at Arsenal, has failed to settle in Spain and was voted the worst signing of the season last term (followed by Luca Modric, who has since come good) and it was thought that Song would try and break into the Barcelona side this time around.
Even after his awful first season at the club, former manager Arsene Wenger advised Song to stay in Barcelona and try again.
He noted when asked if he would consider bringing the player back to Arsenal that: “There is no buy-back in his contract. I heard he wants to give it a go for another season, which you can understand because it’s the first season.”
As our landlord notes, this means that Red Devils boss David Moyes would have a clear run at landing Song and could well swoop for the player this January.
Quite if Song was what the Old Trafford faithful were expecting remains to be seen, but at least Moyes appears to be doing something to bring in targets in in January after such a terrible transfer window last time out.
One of our punters quips over a game of pool that they would probably pay much less than Barcelona did for him as well!
Will Manchester United make a move for Alex Song or is this potential transfer unrealistic? Let us know your thoughts below.
