Here in the Football Transfer Tavern, Metro provide a rather interesting claim for Manchester United fans as they note that David Moyes has lined up a potential replacement for Wayne Rooney.
Moyes has come to face facts that whilst ideally he would like to keep the England international and not sell him to a direct rival, should an even bigger offer come in from Chelsea with Rooney still proving to be a destructive influence on the side, he would consider simply getting rid.
Udinese forward Luis Muriel has been on the former Everton manager’s radar for some time now and with the resources available at Old Trafford, Moyes can finally chase after players who were previously out of his budget, while at Everton.
The young Colombian international forward would cost in the region of £18 million and is versatile enough to also play on the wing as well as taking the role of an out and out number nine.
Given he is only 22-years-old, there is plenty of time for Muriel to develop and adapt to life in the top flight of English football and the boy has already netted an impressive 11 times last season for the Udine-based Serie A side.
Not only does Moyes have his eye on the forward but he is also considering raiding his former club Everton for Marouane Fellani after failing to land either of Barcelona duo Thiago Alcantara or Cesc Fabregas this summer and also seeing both Chelsea and Manchester City splash the cash on new players.
