Punters are enjoying after work drinks in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening but that doesn’t prevent some fresh transfer speculation from reaching us in the bar.
Kit Holden from Mail Online is the beholder of bad news as he suggests that Bayern Munich are ready to join the race for Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan.
The 23-year-old has been widely linked with a Premier League summer switch, namely to Manchester United, but interest from the European champions is a major worry for Red Devils in the tavern.
Gundogan, who has missed the majority of the season with a long-term back injury, could now follow the same route as Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze to the Allianz Arena, snubbing interest from a host of Premier League suitors.
It is thought that the German international could depart Dortmund for around £25 million at the end of the current season with only one year remaining on his contract with last year’s Champions League finalists.
While Real Madrid were expected to mount a stiff challenge, the mere thought of Munich becoming involved has left a few United punters feeling drowsy.
Can you see United pulling off an audacious swoop for the Dortmund midfielder in the summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
