Manchester United facing battle to keep promising young star amid big interest from trio of clubs

There’s a huge summer on the horizon for Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, who has some big decisions to make as his team look to challenge for the title next time out.

The United fans lining the bar here in the pub were disappointed by the poor league placing by the Red Devils despite their ability to qualify for the Champions League through winning the Europa League title.

But that title and the winning of the Carling Cup hasn’t been good enough to appease some supporters and they want to see big signs of improvements throughout the whole of the squad in the coming months.

But part of improving the squad will also come with keeping some of the bigger stars at Old Trafford, especially as other teams begin swooping in trying to do their own transfer business.

And one man that has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent days is rising goalkeeper Joel Pereira, who, according to the Mirror, is being lined up by Portuguese trio Benfica, Sporting Lisbon and Porto.

Porto have released high earner Iker Casillas this summer as they attempt to reduce their wage bill and their remains a big battle to secure the signature of the promising 20-year-old, who has been tipped for a bright future at Old Trafford.

But this is a move that will be down to first-team football. If Pereira wants it and United still can’t offer him a place in the first-team, a move looks to be on the horizon.
