All the talk here at the Football Transfer Tavern has been about Manchester United replacing Rio Ferdinand, yet according to the Daily Mail they may well be looking to eventually buy someone to replace their vice captain too.
Patrice Evra has become one of the first names on the United team sheet and has assumed the position of captain since the injuries to Nemanja Vidic meant the Serb would not be playing week in, week out. Now it seems Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to step up the chase for his replacement and has found exactly the player for the job.
Fergie is eyeing Porto left back Alex Sandro and has already sent scouts to Portugal to monitor the player. The Brazilian international is not the only player being considered however with long-term target Leighton Baines also on the Red Devils’ radar. The issue with Baines of course is the £15 million valuation Everton have placed on the England international’s shoulders, hence the Old Trafford side looking elsewhere.
Either way Ferguson is looking to have someone in place either this summer or the next with 31-year-old Evra not getting any younger.
Manchester United have been linked with several Porto players in recent days with Eliaquim Mangala and James Rodriguez also finding themselves associated with potential moves to the Premier League champions elect.
