Manchester United fans were annoyed at the decision to bring on Jesse Lingard in their loss to Bournemouth over the weekend.
The England international came on for Andreas Pereira in the final knockings of Saturday’s encounter, with one fan brutal in his criticism of the substitution, as they compared it to a funeral.
I’ve been to funerals more positive than that substitution #OleOut

Lingard hasn’t enjoyed the best of seasons with the north-west club this year, scoring no goals and assisting just one in 13 games across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).
There have been rumours surrounding his attitude after it was revealed by The Sun that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and assistant Mike Phelan reminded the 26-year-old to concentrate on his ‘day job’.
His performances has even prompted some of the fans to take to social media and beg the club to sell him in the January transfer window (via The Express).
After his substitution on Saturday, fans were bemoaning the decision to bring on a player who is yet to score this season as they took to Twitter to react.
Here is a selection of tweets from the Old Trafford faithful:
When Lingard is the first sub you call on to change a game, you’ve got big problems.
