Manchester United: Fans can’t believe Mason Greenwood didn’t start against Arsenal

Some Manchester United fans were left questioning why Mason Greenwood did not start in their Premier League fixture against Arsenal on Monday.

The Red Devils could only manage a 1-1 draw with the Gunners at Old Trafford, with the result meaning that this is now their worst start to a season in 30 years.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer surprised most when he named Marcus Rashford in the starting 11, with the England international having left the field injured against West Ham in their previous league outing.

Some might have expected Greenwood to be handed a start, following the 18-year-old’s impressive displays against Rochdale in the Carabao Cup and Astana in the Europa League where he scored in both matches.

However, he once again had to make do with a place on the bench, coming on in the 74th minute for a cameo appearance.

With Rashford failing to impress once again, he has now scored just once in his last six league appearances and that was a penalty, and some fans are now calling for him to be replaced in the starting line-up by Greenwood.

Alternatively, some would like to see Rashford moved out to the left wing and Greenwood starting through the middle, with Andreas Pereira being left out of the side.

Here is what some of United’s fans on Twitter have been saying about Greenwood’s lack of game time…
