Manchester United fans were celebrating the birthday of legendary goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar after the Dutchman turned 49 years 0ld.
The Netherlands international enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Old Trafford, making 266 appearances and keeping a mammoth 135 clean sheets across six years at the club (via Transfermarkt).
Amazingly, van der Sar arrived at the north-west club quite late in his career, not joining until he was 34 years old as he cost Sir Alex Ferguson a mere £3.6m.
And what a transfer it proved to be for the Scottish manager, with the ‘keeper winning 12 trophies during his time at the club.
Included in those trophies were three consecutive Premier League titles, with the Red Devils last top-flight side to achieve that feat in English football.
Fans took to Twitter to wish their former ‘keeper a happy birthday as some looked back at their best memories of van der Sar.
